Let's Make It: Caramel Ice Cream

Let’s Make It: Caramel Ice Cream (Bag Method)

No ice cream maker needed. Just a few simple ingredients, two resealable bags, and some ice—and you’ve got fresh, creamy caramel ice cream.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon caramel flavoring (adjust to taste)

  • Ice

  • 3/4 cup rock salt

Instructions:

  1. Mix the milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and caramel flavoring in a quart-sized resealable bag.

  2. Taste the mixture and adjust flavoring if needed.

  3. Seal the quart-sized bag tightly.

  4. Fill a gallon-sized resealable bag about three-quarters full of ice.

  5. Add rock salt to the ice.

  6. Place the sealed quart-sized bag into the gallon-sized bag.

  7. Seal the larger bag securely, making sure both bags are completely closed.

  8. Shake the bags vigorously for 5 minutes.

  9. Rinse the outside of the smaller bag with cold water before opening to avoid getting salt water in the ice cream.

  10. Enjoy your homemade caramel ice cream!
